From a design critique to a review with the C-Suite, the closer to reality a prototype is, the better the reception. We can analyze prototypes and prototyping techniques along four dimensions: • Representation describes the form of the prototype (e.g., sets of paper sketches or computer simulations). • Precision describes the level of detail at which the prototype is to be evaluated (e.g., informal and rough or highly polished). Prototypes are critical in the psychological experience of the designer, for re- evaluating failure as an opportunity to learn, and enhancing a sense of progress ( 14 Oct 2019 Prototyping sits deep in the service designer's DNA. Hypotheses, conjecture and assumptions are no match for seeing a real user or customer prototype n.
The belief is that the purpose of prototyping is beyond communication and is to test underlying assumptions and answer questions regarding the design.
The challenge provides a shared experience, a common language, a common stance to build the right prototype. And so, this is the value of the experience,
Prototyping is interwoven with nearly all product, service, and systems development e˙orts. A prototype is a pre-production representation of some aspect of a concept or final design.

Their paper explores the psychological experiences of low fidelity prototyping from the point of view of the designer. (2012) ‘The psychological experience of prototyping’, Design Studies
The presented aspects show that the integration of prototyping in the development has psychological influences on the team members. The feeling of fast progress as well as the opportunity to gather quick feedback lead to a higher motivation and self-confidence within the team.

Prototyping may result in a 50-50 partnership between users and developers where both experience "ownership". Prototyping may result in a product that is a better fit for the customer's requirements. We often prototype several takes of an experience to see how the content fits and feels on a mobile device, or how we can break it up into steps or screens. These prototypes are great for exploring early concepts, user testing, getting buy-in from team members, and communicating an overall strategy. Experience prototypes allow designers to show and test the solution through an active participation of the final users, that interact with mock-ups of specific service touchpoints.
The practice supports a sense of forward progress.
